On October 10, I was proud to be associated with the NCGOP when the leadership pledged:

1. REFORM BUDGETING AND STOP WASTEFUL SPENDING
Last year, the Democrat leadership in Raleigh increased spending $500 million! We need a SPENDING CONTROL ACT that limits increases in government spending to the rate of inflation plus the rate of population growth. Using zero-based budgeting, we will make every program justify its existence and responsibly prioritize state spending.

2. CREATE JOBS AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
Last year the Democrats pushed through a $1.3 billion tax increase - the nation's only tax increase during the recession. Now, thanks to the Democrat leadership in Raleigh, North Carolina has the highest tax burden in the region. Only if our taxes are no higher than adjoining states can we expect to attract the new jobs that will jump start our economy.

3. PROTECT LOCAL GOVERNMENT REVENUE
By confiscating money collected for local governments, the Democrat leadership has forced local government to raise property and sales taxes. The Democrat leadership has pushed more and more financial mandates down to local governments. They have repealed the long-standing promise to reimburse local governments. Local governments must have the revenue resources to provide local services and support for our schools. A thorough review of mandates and local revenue sources must be made and acted upon.
